Using digital roadway signage is certainly not a new concept. It’s been around since the 1980s, when Daktronics Transportation earned its first contract. In 1988 we placed 12 GlowCubeTM variable message signs in Connecticut. Since then, the Connecticut Department of Transportation placed tri-color variable message signs, amber signs and more than 30 legacy sign replacements. After more than 30 years, they continue to work exclusively with Daktronics.
That’s because Daktronics continues to provide the right solutions at the right time. The technology, innovation, and practical uses of dynamic message signs keep advancing at a rapid pace. It’s easier than ever to use digital messaging to communicate with motorists, and the flexibility it affords makes it essential.
At Daktronics Transportation, we are excited to share our knowledge about how to sharpen your image by using high-resolution, full-color dynamic message signs on your roadways. Use these dynamic message signs to tell the whole story to motorists quickly and safely.
The potential of Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) technology continues to accelerate. Understanding the National ITS Application Standards such as the National Transportation Communications for ITS Protocol (NTCIP) and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) are critical to having your displays in compliance. Daktronics actively participates in writing and reviewing the standards for DMS, and we provide reliable, long-lasting solutions for every application.
