Lynn Family Stadium, home of Louisville City FC of the United Soccer Leagues (USL), opened in 2020 with an integrated LED and control system sure to set a new benchmark for incorporating LED within USL venues.
A total of eight LED displays create 7,300 square feet of digital space throughout the stadium. While Lynn Family Stadium features the usual locations of video boards, the stadium also features some unique features and locations for digital displays sure to catch on at other USL venues in the future. Members of the USL Championship League, Louisville City FC’s new home features more than 7.1 million LEDs.
Rivaling video display sizes of many MLS stadiums, LouCity’s main video board measures 40 feet high by 72 feet wide. The board features 13HD pixel layout with a digital canvas of 2,850 square feet and 2.3 million LEDs for crisp, clear imagery. It would take 267 60-inch TVs to cover the main video display that is capable of variable content zoning to show one large image or multiple zones of content.
As a unique touch, two additional displays flank to the left and right of the main display angled toward the field. These displays each measure 40 feet high by 14.5 feet wide to show supplemental information to the main display.
In addition, the backside of the main display features a video display that measures 24 feet high by 49 feet wide.
When combined together, the front main video, side flanking boards and rear board add an almost unique 360-degree perspective of LED to the main board structure.
Along the sidelines, two ribbon displays each measure nearly 4 feet high by 25 feet wide along the seating fascia.
Daktronics 10mm pitch-perimeter display surrounds the playing field and measures 3 feet high by 495 feet wide. Daktronics LED pitch-level displays are modular advertising and entertainment systems that provide a unique mix of features and flexibility. This system, designed for soccer and football perimeter applications, incorporates excellent brightness and visibility for fans and television viewers, quick and easy assembly and teardown, unique safety features, and configuration flexibility along with great exposure for sponsors.
Capitalizing on recent sporting venue trends for installing displays in locations outside the bowl, LouCity installed a 14.5-foot-high by 25-foot-wide screen in their Beer Garden to connect with their fans before, during and after events. The display features 6-millimeter line spacing and allows the team to show match-day related content as well as live airings of rival matches that might affect the team’s standings.
Daktronics Show Control System powers the entire new system. This industry-leading system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution.
We want Lynn Family Stadium to be a great experience for our supporters and having top-quality LED displays is crucial to the fan experience. The sightlines in our new soccer-specific stadium are second to none and our Daktronics displays will enhance the game-day experience.
