Receiving content and preparing it to play is an activity that we are all familiar with. From professional teams to high schools, the steps for loading content are very similar.
Please keep in mind, the way you transfer files could expose your control system to dangerous malware or viruses. Whether you are in a rush or are testing content well in advance of your next event, it is important to exercise safe file transfer practices when you are loading creative files or other content onto your control system.
Our Daktronics Trainers and Service Engineers have some recommendations to minimize security risks when transferring content.
- In order to protect your system from viruses and spyware on your Daktronics system, use secure methods for file transfer such as clean external flash drives, Drop Box, FTP sites and other means to transfer content onto your Daktronics computers.
- Using unsecured methods of peer-to-peer file sharing, such as BitTorrent is not recommended as this can lead to unwanted malware being downloaded to the computer. For more on this, read The dangers of file sharing and peer to peer networks.
If you are unsure as to whether or not a file-transfer method is secure, contact your IT department.
