Genius Sports and the NCAA – What You Need to Know.

Recently, the NCAA made an announcement that will impact the entire landscape of
sports data, specifically the collection, management and distribution of statistics and scoring data.

The first NCAA sport to be implemented is NCAA Basketball, and in this application, facilities, vendors and service providers alike have been assessing this development. Rest assured, Daktronics has you covered. We have been in close contact with Genius Sports since the announcement of the NCAA partnership and are hard at work developing the tools you will need to continue your in-venue stats and scoring functions without interruption.

Genius Sports is in development for support and output of the CBS Statcrew XML game file for NCAA Basketball and will provide that tool this upcoming season at no charge. Our understanding is that the Genius Sports version will be an exact copy of the Statcrew output of the game file – not including season or historical statistics. CBS Statcrew will still be outputting the same XML game file. Some schools will move to Genius Sports services and some will stay with the same Statcrew data source this year –
either way, we will support your workflow for getting data to your content in the venue.

Daktronics is working with Genius Sports to provide important operational information, to develop the XML stats interface and to test the entire data workflow so that you remain minimally impacted. Your content will not need to be rebuilt or changed to support this development.

Our plan is twofold.

We will verify and do any development necessary to make sure that the existing DSTI (DakStats Interface Pro and Standard) support the same game file XML data from Statcrew, Genius Sports, Presto and DakStats. This will mean little change to your existing workflow this year except for software updates.

• Stay on the existing Statcrew COM file interface – no charge.
• Move to the XML data file from Genius, Statcrew or Presto – one price for engagement and upgrade.
