The 2023 baseball postseason is roaring toward an exciting ending but the excitement and experiences heard around the ballpark are still ringing in fans’ ears. The home runs, strikeouts, chants and cheers, edge-of-your-seat moments, thrills of victory and bummers of defeat are carried into the offseason. But when fans return in 2024, they might have something entirely new to get excited about!

As an LED display manufacturing company, we see a lot of trends and keep close to the pulse of the baseball industry. Huge, massive outfield video displays are always the ultimate focal point. But other areas are developing with LED technology built into the architecture. Let’s look at a few of these trends before the offseason begins.

Entertainment Districts and Green Spaces

Right next door to the stadium, or even inside the ballpark, entertainment districts and green spaces give fans room to move around and enjoy the game-day atmosphere. Displays in these areas allow fans to keep up with the game action happening on the field while also showing updates from around the league, even broadcasting divisional competition at another ballpark or showing the local team while playing on the road.

Gate Displays

Welcoming fans to the ballpark is the first impression you can give before an event begins. As fans are showing up earlier and earlier for ballgames, use these exterior gate displays to connect with them well before the first pitch and to brand their game-day experience. Share your team’s brand as well as showing matchup information and history. Lay the foundation of their overall experience as they walk into the ballpark.

Backside Concourse Ribbons

Once inside, the concourses are busy areas as fans move to their section and find their seats. Something unique that we’ve installed for the Minnesota Twins is a backside ribbon display facing the concourse. This keeps fans informed of the score during the game and can share the line score throughout the game. It can also show graphics and animations similar to what is shown on the ribbon display just on the opposite side.

Tower Displays

When at the ballpark and looking to the outfield, aside from the massive main video boards, tower displays are now commanding additional attention from fans. Something standing tall with coordinated graphics and animations adds intrigue to the game. It can build on to the production for lineups and big game moments by providing more digital real estate to connect with fans.

Dugout Displays

Stepping into the dugout recently got a facelift as well. The upper edge of the dugout can now feature an LED display to brand the ballpark and deliver more ROI through sponsorship recognition – not only in the stadium but on television broadcasts as well! It’s the natural progression as venues look to bring previously static locations to life with bright, eye-catching LED displays.

Backstop Displays

Similar to the dugout displays, backstop displays provide additional advertising opportunities to highlight sponsors from well before the first pitch until all the fans have left the stadium. They show up on television cameras behind the catcher, umpire and batter, so they are prime real estate for additional advertising for those watching the broadcast. Additional ROI is extremely helpful to delivering all the exciting game-day experiences that fans enjoy.
