The 13th Annual Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala was recently held in Huntington Beach, California. A black tie evening with a pre-event social, the event brought many manufacturers under one roof to be recognized for leadership across diverse industries. Daktronics received the Operational Excellence Leadership Award, which recognizes winners for successful continuous improvement projects that streamline processes, reduce waste and enhance overall equipment effectiveness.
Headquartered in Brookings, South Dakota, since the company’s founding, Daktronics has grown to become a world leader in the display industry with employees and service staff that live in multiple communities spread across the country. Our US-based manufacturing facilities include:
› More than 525,000 total square feet of manufacturing space on U.S. soil
› Capacity to produce over 10,000 LED modules per week company wide
› More than 2,800 total employees
Along with manufacturing in the US, a major part of providing value to our US-based customers relies on our robust local service network, with one of our support professionals within two hours of every Live Events customer.
Daktronics was represented at the award ceremony by a 13-year member of this network, Carl Buendia, Services Manager based out of California, who appreciated the opportunity to accept the award on behalf of the company. “Being able to hear about the innovations other companies, like Honeywell and Boeing, are doing in their respective fields was my favorite part of the event. I was very proud and honored to represent Daktronics and share the stage with other highly respected companies.”
For the Operational Excellence Award, we submitted our implementation of a new overhead rail system in our Brookings, South Dakota, manufacturing facility. This new system makes the display cabinet assembly process more efficient, from the first step of putting the electronic components in the cabinet to the final step of display burn-in.
