Show Control System: How to make an include script in Display Studio?

Topic

  • Create an Include Script command in Display Studio
  • Cases for an Include Script
  • Make a button include clicking another button
  • Show Control's Display Studio script buttons

Include Scripts have many uses:

  • Include Scripts/Buttons act as though they have a primary/ replica relationship. One button can be included in other buttons via an include script, then anytime you make a change to the original button (be it content changing out, or even adding new script lines), it updates everywhere you have included that button in another button.
  • Speed up new button creation by allowing commonly used commands to be added in via previously created buttons - Ex. Setting transitions, blanking commands, pauses, waits, and resumes, etc.
  • Create buttons that trigger both content and video looks - Show Control System: How do I create buttons that trigger look changes for my 6000 Processor?
  • A button can have the same amount of include commands as it can have script lines. You can also create includes that call to existing buttons that already have an include in them.

Steps

The Include Script feature will enable users to quickly add an existing Script-Button's collection of script commands to a new Script-Button's collection of commands - during the new Script-Button's configuration procedure. Accordingly, this feature is meant to provide additional convenience by minimizing the time required to build script command collections - particularly in circumstances in which these collections contain many common script-command items.

  1. In a scripting container, right click in an empty space to create a new button

    • From here, a browser window will appear showing the buttons on your current workspace page. All buttons in your current workspace are accessible however, so if needed, use the navigation tools to navigate to the correct workspace page and container housing the button you'd like included in your new button.

  5. Hit the star in the top left of the button widget to go back to see the button's script lines and continue adding script lines or includes as needed.
