How to configure a Moxa Ethernet I/O for a VFC or VC6

Steps

Upload the correct firmware to the controller

  1. Upload/install the newest player (DMP) firmware to the controller..

Configure the ETHERNET I/O

Option 1: Configuring the I/O locally on the VFC or through the NTCIP interface of the DMP

  1. Log into the NTCIP page of the DMP, or into the VFC locally.
  2. Select SHARED
  3. ETHERNET I/O
  4. CHANGE DEVICE
  5. MOXA IOLOGIK E1212
  6. Cancel back to the previous menu and select IP ADDRESS.
  7. Enter the IP address of the I/O.  (Default: 192.168.127.254) NOTE: Depending on the network the IP addresses may have to be within the same subnet.  The controllers IP and the IO IP can be changed within their respective web interfaces. (controllers IP address needs to be similar to the I/O)
  8. Cancel back from the previous menu and select PORT
  9. Enter the I/O port.  (Default: 502)
  10. Cancel back from the previous menu and select ENABLE
  11. Select ENABLE

Option 2: Configure the I/O through the webpage interface.

  1. Go to: http://controllerIP/io/#/config (Replace controllerIP with the IP of the controller.)
    • Note older firmware will use http://controllerIP/io/config.html
  2. Make sure Enabled and ERTD is on
  3. Select add device  VS6 MOXA 3.PNG
  4. Add the IP of the Moxa.
  5. Set the port to 502.
  6. Then in drop down select Moxa(TM) iologik E1212vs6 MOXA 5.PNG 
  7. Verify the Poll Rate and Timeout values are set to "0".
  8. Select Save
  9. IMPORTANT: If you set a password on the Moxa, add the password by selecting the Key icon (left side of screen) on the I/O services Dashboard page.  URL example: 10.10.10.10/io/#/devices/0/credentialVS6 MOXA 6.PNG

  10. There should be no username for this - leave it blank
  11. After entering the password, click on SAVE 

 

Configure the Over Height switch (optional)

  1. Log into the VFC locally, or through the NTCIP interface on the DMP.
  2. Select SIGN 1
  3. CONFIGURATION
  4. PERIPHRIAL
  5. ADD
  6. ADVANCED SETUP
  7. ADD OVER HEIGHT DETECTOR
  8. ETHERNET I/O 1
  9. CONTROL PIN: 1
  10. Select what you would like the sign to do when the over height is triggered.


*NOTE:  If configuring for a Binary or BCD (Binary Count Decimal) switch in the VFC, there is a limit of  a maximum of  8 DI (inputs).
