How to disable audio on an embedded SDI signal?

  • Can the audio be muted on an embedded SDI signal, feeding BlackMagic connected to a DMP player, and still be able to play clips with audio enabled on the player?
  • Customer wants to use the DMP to play audio, but only for the clips playing on the player and not the video signal with embedded audio in it.

Environment

  • Product: DMP-8000 v7.13.0.22+
  • Component: DMP-8000 players with Blackmagic card / other capture device attached, SDI embedded audio
  • Control System: Show Control System

Steps

  1. DMP-8000 version needs to be higher than 7.13.0.22 for this feature. Be sure to take backup of DMP-8000 before updating.
  2. Navigate to the following location on the DMP-8000 computer: C:\ProgramData\Daktronics\Vnet4\Content\system\devices\
    • Older versions will be in: C:\ProgramData\Daktronics\Vnet4\Content\devices\
  3. Locate the .DPF file, open the file in notepad.
  4. Set audio.channels=0, as shown in the picture below.
    • Note the .DPF file may have 2 audio channels, in which case set both to 0

  5. Restart the content.
  6. If audio persists, restart the DMP player software, then play the content again.
