Data Vision Software (DVS) GUI window opens but doesn't show the interface.

Potential Symptoms

  • DVS GUI window opens but doesn't show the DVS interface. (may get a port 404 error at address 127.0.0.1)

Environment

  • Windows PC
  • DVS software

Cause

  • Verify Firewall is not blocking the DVS GUI window
  • By default the DVS software looks at  localhost (127.0.0.1) port 80 if you don't specify a port after the IP in the address bar of Chrome. As a result, if the port has been changed in the software settings ( C:\Program Files\Daktronics\DVS\DVS_SERVER_4_4\services\WebServer.properties ) for a particular customer the software is listening on the custom port and will not respond to port 80.

Resolution

  1. Turn off Firewall if applicable.
  2. Check the port settings in the file above (Instructions in DD3445813)
  3. Change the port to 80 in the WebServer file

Work Around

  1. NOTE- If you change the port to 80 and there is a port 80 already in use error (this will show in the command prompt window if DVS_SERVER is set up to start manually) you can change it to another port
    1. If you change it to another port you can either use Chrome at address 127.0.0.1:xx  where x represents the port number or
    2. You can right click the GUI shortcut
      1. Click properties
      2. In the Shortcut tab in the Target window add a colon and the port to the end of the address. For example- "C:\Program Files\Daktronics\DVS\utilities\Chromium\chrome.exe" --app=http://127.0.0.1:xx
        1. xx in the example above represents the port number
