Display Modules: Modules do not match the rest of the display at night but appear fine during the day
Potential Symptoms
- Modules may not dim down with the rest of the display at night but appear fine during the day.
- Modules appear brighter than surrounding modules at night.
- Modules may appear blank or dimmer than the rest of the display at night but appear fine during the day.
- Modules appear dimmer than surrounding modules at night.
- When viewing firmware versions in IDM, modules identified as having issues show different versions than the majority of the display.

Cause
- Brighter modules are running firmware release prior to 1.3.136 package and the dimming level on the VIP is set to 1%.
Resolution
- Contact Daktronics to Update firmware on modules that are not dimming enough to match the other modules in the display.
For Temporary Operation
- Set the low dimming level to 4% from the VIP web configuration page to minimize the issue. Reference How to adjust maximum and minimum dimming levels on a VIP 4060/5060?, DD2294756 if needed.
- Note: Prior to changing the dimming level verify that the current level wasn't set due to local ordinances.
