Using the PC-2001 to Function as a Tenths of a Second Timer

Potential Symptoms

  • Can a PC-2001 Pace Clock be used as a count down/up timer capable of tenths of a second?
  • How to time a practice routine/drill of specific duration (i.e. 2.5 seconds) and sound the horn when time has elapsed (similar to a shot clock).
  • PC-2001 Pace Clock (addressable driver).
  • All Sport 5000 (football code: 6601).
  • All Sport 1600 (basketball code: 21).

Environment

Cause

  • All Sport Segment Timer mode only takes whole integer inputs and does not show tenths of a second.
    • The All Sport Segment Timer mode can only count up and stop at an integer, no tenths of a second.
    • The All Sport PERIOD time can count down, but can only be set to a whole integer, no tenths of a second.

Resolution

  1. To setup a drill with a run time that contains tenths (1/10) of a second, you need to start with the desired run time and count down.
  2. Time will need to be reentered as the Current (CURR) time at the start of each drill.
All Sport 5000 Setup

    Enable Tenths of a Second:
  1. Using Football Sport Code 6601
  2. Press MENU
  3. Press the up arrow key until EDIT SETTINGS? shows
  4. Press ENTER/YES
  5. When TENTHS SECOND? shows press YES
        Steps to Run a 2.5 Second Drill:
    1. Press <SET MAIN CLOCK>
    2. Enter 2 then 5 for a CURR time of 2.5 seconds
    3. Press Enter/YES
    4. Press Start to start the drill
    5. Repeat Steps to Run 2.5 Second Drill 

    All Sport 1600 Setup

        Enable Tenths of a Second:
    1. Using Basketball Sport Code 21
    2. Press CLEAR/ALT
    3. Press 1/10 SEC
        Steps to Run a 2.5 second Drill:
    1. Press SET TIME
    2. Enter 2 then 5 for a CURR time of 2.5 seconds
    3. Press ENTER*/EDIT
    4. Press START to start the drill
    5. Repeat Steps to Run 2.5 Second Drill
