Billboard enclosure overheating, thermostat set wrong

Potential Symptoms

  • Control enclosure overheating.
  • "Over Temperature" event on the VLink/ Valo/ VIP in IDM.
  • Repetitive equipment failure.

Environment

  • Product Family:  Billboards
  • Product:  DB-2000 through DB-4000 series
  • Component:
  • Control System:

Cause

  • The control enclosure's thermostat is set incorrectly.

Resolution

  • Adjust the thermostat as follows:
    • Heating (red) should be set to 50 F.
      • To verify heating fan/coil assembly turns on, set the red dial higher than the current enclosure temp (e.g. if it is currently 65 F in the enclosure, turn dial to 70 or 80 F to verify heating assembly engages); return the setting to 50 F when done.
      • Note: DB-4200 series ISP enclosures have a heater switch on the right that has to be engaged in order for the heater fan/assembly to turn on.
    • Cooling (blue) should be set to 80 F.
      • To verify the cooling fan starts blowing hot air out, turn the blue dial to a temp lower than the current enclosure temp (e.g. if the enclosure temp is 65 F, turn the blue dial down to 60 or 50 F to verify the cooling fan engages); return the dial to 80 F when done.
