Venus Public Alerts: IPAWS alert is running exclusively and won't let normal schedule run.

Potential Symptoms

  • IPAWs alert is stuck on the display and normal content will not run.

Environment

  • Product: Venus Basic, Venus Select, Venus Professional, Venus Enterprise
  • Components: IPAWS Messages
  • Control System: Venus Cloud-Based, Venus Local

Cause

  • IPAWS alerts have a default setting to run exclusively for the first 30 minutes that the alert was issued.
    • The website that sends the IPAWS messages will sometimes send several different alerts out a day for the same emergency message causing the 30 minutes of exclusive IPAWS message to run again.

Resolution

  • Reduce the amount of time the display will run IPAWs messages exclusively.
    • This setting can be found under: Settings > Alert Management.
