Troubleshooting Venus Control Suite: Ethernet-Based Communication

Steps
Determine communication method used and proceed to matching communication method below.
Ethernet Radio
- If you cannot physically access the display, contact Daktronics for further troubleshooting/Service Call.
- Is the sign connected to the network and been power cycled?
- If No, connect to network and cycle power as per FTFU, communication error; Display powered up prior to connection to network .
- If Yes or if the issue does not resolve, proceed to Step 3.
- Check if personal computer (PC) has Ethernet Bridge Radio (EBR) Diagnostics. Follow Ethernet Bridge Radios: How do I get the Diagnostic (EBRD) Utility? to install Diagnostics if needed.
- Confirm that PC is direct connected to network.
- Open EBR Diagnostics and check if full signal is showing from PC to sign as per Ethernet Bridge Radios: How to use the EBR Diagnostic Utility.
- If No, go to Ethernet Bridge Radios Troubleshooting Hub - EBR AW900xTR System Communications and begin troubleshooting the radios
- If Yes, proceed to Step 6.
- Are ports 443 and 80 open?
- If No, open port 443 and 80 to venus.daktronics.com for display as per Venus Diagnostics: "Communication Error!" in Venus Control Suite, Network blocking communication to venus.daktronics.com. .
- If ports are open and the issue is not resolved, contact Daktronics for further troubleshooting/Service Call.
Ethernet Fiber
- If you cannot physically access the display, contact Daktronics for further troubleshooting/Service Call.
- Has the display been power cycled?
- If No, power cycle display as per Unable to connect to display with Venus or webconfig, sign is playing messages .
- If Yes or if the issue does not resolve after power cycling, proceed to Step 3.
- Has the media converter been power cycled?
- If No, cycle power to the media converter as per Galaxy display using fiber Ethernet is unable to communicate, media converter lock up .
- If Yes, or if issue does not resolve, proceed to Step 4.
- Is the display connected to the network?
- If not, connect display to network as per Galaxy, No fiber Ethernet communication; Ethernet cable unplugged .
- If so, or if issue does not resolve, proceed to Step 5.
- Are any lights lit on media converter?
- If No, proceed to Step 6.
- If Yes, contact Daktronics for further troubleshooting/Service Call or proceed to Troubleshooting A-2826 Transition Networks converter: Ethernet fiber communication system for media converter troubleshooting.
- Is the media converter plugged into a known working outlet?
- If No, plug into working outlet as per Galaxy, no communication through media converter, inside media converter not powered .
- If Yes, replace media converter as per Galaxy displays, unable to connect in Venus, fiber Ethernet media converter failed . Contact Daktronics to order media converter if spare is not available. If issue remains unresolved after replacing media converter, proceed to Step 7.
- Are ports 443 and 80 open on the network?
- If No, open port 443 and 80 to venus.daktronics.com for the display as per "Communication Error!" in Venus Control Suite, Network blocking communication to venus.daktronics.com. .
- If Yes or if issue does not resolve, contact Daktronics for further troubleshooting/Service Call or continue to Troubleshooting A-2826 Transition Networks converter: Ethernet fiber communication system for instruction on troubleshooting media converters.
Ethernet Wired
- If you cannot physically access the display, contact Daktronics for further troubleshooting/Service Call.
- Has the sign been power cycled?
- If No, power cycle display as per Unable to communicate with display, controller locked up .
- If Yes or if the issue does not resolve after power cycling, proceed to Step 3.
- Confirm that display is connected to the network.
- If not, connect display to network as per Venus Control Suite is not connecting to display, Display has no Internet connection .
- If so, or if issue does not resolve, proceed to Step 4.
- Are ports 443, 80 and 3001 open on the network?
- If No, open port 443, 80 and 3001 to venus.daktronics.com for the display as per "Communication Error!" in Venus Control Suite, Network blocking communication to venus.daktronics.com.
- If Yes or if issue does not resolve, proceed to Step 5.
- Contact Daktronics for further troubleshooting/Service Call or proceed to Troubleshooting Galaxy: Wired Ethernet Communication for Wired Ethernet Troubleshooting.
